Macbook pro battery x loud fan windows#
View attachment 1885453 View attachment 1885454I’ve spent the last half of the decade reviewing the best laptops, from Windows to Apple computers. I only have the base 10c/16c M1 Pro to compare to. I've been doing loads of cpu work so far and I'm telling you that I do not hear anything that is worthy of mention especially when compared to the 14" chassis. even though the thermal readings are probably skewed off a big deal the larger offered way better thermal management (it's not that it doesn't get hot it's the fans that don't scream). I have seen many YouTube videos the most significant factor for me was from the Max tech bros. The center of the keyboard was where my 14" got the hottest while the 16" did not. The underside is also warm but it's the same as the 14" chassis. THE TOP aluminum part above the function keys do get HOT, however. Running the exact same tasks on the 16" I do not hear the fans at all and only by placing my ears close to the chassis do I hear anything and even that is significantly non-obtrusive compared to the 14" chassis. The CPU loads I run involve ffmpeg and even without any apps doing a simple yes command (10 of them) will give you an idea. I am at a desk with zero ambient sound levels. Measured from my face/nose dead center of 14" display area.

It is still nothing compared to the big bad 17" mbp. The dimensions of the early 2008 15" are: 14.1" x 9.6" x 1" thick. What I have noticed is that the current 16" is really based off of the EARLY 2008 15" model because my old Moshi Codex case has 4 foot pads inside the case that fits this 16" perfectly and that case was meant for the early 2008 15" mbp! Here are some pics of it compared to the 2008 15" MBP and 2010 17" MBP. This display is just so wonderful to work on I am going to keep it and pass the 14" down to my brother in law. This display is all that I have wanted and the 14" at scaled higher resolutions is just too small for my eyes to feel comfortable. I carry around my 17" for YEARS and my 15" 2008 MBP before that. The weight is another issue the 14" is lighter but this one is BIGGER and heavier but it is manageable. Running same 100% cpu load on the 16" resulted in the same amount or near the same amount of heat but definitely the fans operate at a mere <2500rpm and that is after 15 minutes of cpu loads it doesn't even being to complain! It is not dead silent but the sound is basically quiet enough it is completely acceptable. I do work with some audio work flows and having a quiet fan is crucial (bedroom audio master work). Never once did the machine throttle, however.

But at around 48dB and higher spinning fans at near 5500-5900RPM it was just too aggressive. Note that this fan noise profile is significantly less annoying than INTEL. I don't work with GPU at the moment but CPU I do and pegged at 100% the 14" 10c/16c goes into fan mode early on (about 1 minute into cpu loading up) and then continues until end of processes.
Macbook pro battery x loud fan upgrade#
The reason for this upgrade is the LACK OF FAN NOISE at full cpu load. If you are on the fence about switching up to this bad boy, DO IT.
